COMMITMENT CATCH UP


Six more members of the 2017 class came of the board last week. Here's a look at some of the state's most recent college commitments.

The biggest name to make his decision was consensus All-American Kevin Knox (Tampa Catholic) who joined the nation's top ranked recruiting class with a verbal commitment to Kentucky on Saturday. The versatile 6'8 forward chose the Wildcats over North Carolina, Duke and Florida State.

High scoring wing Sean Price (Port Charlotte) committed to Charleston Southern. The 6'3 senior averaged 22.2 and 9.8 rebounds per game this season for Head Coach Bill Specht and helped the Pirates capture a district championship.

Hard playing forward Marcus Lewis (Rickards) pledged to NAIA program Thomas University. Lewis average 8.9 points per game while leading Rickards to a 19-9 record this season.

One of state's top scorers, Malik Hardy (Pines Charter) will join new Head Coach Jim Crutchfield at Nova Southeastern next season. Hardy was an All-Broward County selection after averaing nearly 27 points per game this season for Head Coach Dave Roca.

Following a senior season that saw him lead the Mustangs to a district and region championship, Lakweood Ranch point guard Devin Twenty has committed to Transylavania University. Twenty was a First-Team All Area selection and was named Bradenton Herald Player of the Year.

Victory Rock senior wing Tomas Woldetensae has signed with UMKC. The native of Italy averaged 10.6 point per game this season for the 27-8 Blue Devils coached by Loren Jackson.
