City of Palms & Kruel Classic, Butler Commits, Snodgrass to UNF
The pre-Christmas tournaments are nearing an end and there has been no shortage of great play around the state of Florida.
On Monday at the City of Palms, Winter Park High School led by 22 points from FAU pledge Brett Comer and 21 points from Austin Rivers beat Milton (GA) 73-64. The Wildcats will now matchup with Coach Danny Hurley's New Jersey power St. Benedict's Prep on Tuesday. Montverde Academy was a 62-47 winner over Westchester (CA) and earned a semi-final date with Paterson Catholic (NJ). The Eagles were led by James Bell's 23 points.
On the other side of the state at the Kruel Classic, The Rock School edged Dwyer 49-38 and will meet Northeast (Oakland Park) in the finals after the Hurricanes beat up on Miramar 77-42. Tuesday's championship will feature 4 of the best guards in the state when The Rock's Scottie Wilbekin and Dennis Mavin matchup with Northeast's TJ Sapp and Jelani Hewitt.
In consolation action at the Kruel, Pine Crest was defeated for the 2nd game in a row as Quality Education (NC) beat the Panthers 83-61. Rubyne Burrows had 20 points as Dillard was a 68-49 winner over Coolidge (DC) on Monday.
Recruiting Roundup
One commitment we missed a couple weeks back, 6'8 senior forward Santoine Butler of Oldsmar Christian signed with Gardner Webb.
Josh Snodgrass (PK Yonge) will transfer to North Florida from American University at the semester.
