The 2010 Hoop Mountain Junior Elite Showcase took place this past Friday and Saturday at the Orlando Sports Complex. This event brings together the top middle school basketball players in the state to compete against one another, including Lake Highland Prep's Joel Berry, FloridaHoops.com's #1 ranked player in the 2014 class. With the NCAA mandating that players in 7th grade and up are “recruitable athletes”, it is now never too early to take a look at these prospects.

The 2010 edition of Nike Team Florida faced a new
and unique challenge.They participated
in the inaugural Elite Youth Basketball League which is made up of the top
Nike-sponsored teams from around the country. No longer were titles given for each event such as Boo Williams,
Houston, and Los Angeles.Instead the
three events were used as qualifiers for the EYBL championships which took
place in July at the Peach Jam.

year’s edition of Gold Coast, put together a very good season. They won their division at the Disney Easter
Classic, won the Gold Coast Classic, played well at the Breakdown Hoops
Festival in the early part of July and then capped things off with a Sweet 16

It is tough replacing talented players like UF signee
Patrick Young and Kentucky recruit Stacey Poole. But that’s what the 2010 edition of the Lee Bulls
had to do.The team improved as the
spring turned to summer and when July came around they began to gel.By the end of the live period, the premier
team in North Florida was hitting their stride.

Florida Elite continues to be one the states highest
profile programs because of the success they are experiencing both in state and
nationally. The Florida Elite program has done very well and continues to draw
a lot of attention from the college coaches during the live period. When asked to choose a highlight from this
past spring and summer, Program Director Conrad Foss couldn’t think of just
one.
